London Eye (Jan.5)

I looked forward to finally being able to go on the London Eye; I had only seen it in passing several years ago while on a tor bus. It was a fantastic opportunity for photographing the London cityscape, and fortunately it was a clear day. Since the buildings are relatively low, we were able to see far into the distance and pinpoint the few skyscrapers that dotted the land. From our height we could better observe how the buildings overlapped each other, indicated the many winding streets and sprawling overall layout of London. I cannot help but compare and contrast London and New York. Manhattan is laid out in such a neat grid system and the skyscrapers create valleys around the streets; it is impossible to see past the New York skyline. The bridges over the Thames are much smaller than the bridges in New York. Most important buildings in New York are located further in on the island, but London has cultural icons located right along the bank. However both cities have their distinctive buildings that any tourist would make a big deal about. There are also people constantly bustling around, either by foot or bus and car.
